Meet The Keurig K-Crema: A New Standard in At-Home Coffee Brewing

Keurig has recently launched its latest brewer innovation: the K-Crema™, the first-ever Keurig brewer to feature PressureInfusion Technology™—delivering 5x more pressure than standard Keurig brewers. This compact machine creates smooth, crema-topped coffee and espresso-style shots from hundreds of K-Cup® pods, all while maintaining the simplicity Keurig is known for. For traditional coffee lovers, the K-Crema brewer also includes a ‘Classic’ setting for full-flavored drip-style brews. It’s available now on Keurig.com and at retailers nationwide.

We caught up with Morgan Lombardi, Senior Director of Product Management at Keurig Dr Pepper, to get the inside scoop on how this game-changing brewer came to life.

Q: What inspired the development of the K-Crema? Was there a specific consumer need or trend that sparked it?

“Absolutely. As more consumers frequent cafés and develop a taste for bolder, richer coffee, their expectations at home have evolved. They’re seeking that same elevated experience—without the hassle of multiple machines crowding their countertops. Our research consistently revealed a strong desire for versatility: a single system that could brew both drip-style and espresso-style coffee. That insight sparked the creation of the K-Crema brewer.”

Q: Why was “crema” chosen as the signature feature?

“Crema is more than just a layer of foam—it’s a sensory marker of quality. It enhances smoothness, richness, and delivers a visual cue that elevates the entire coffee experience. We like to call it a ‘little layer of fancy.’ Thanks to our new PressureInfusion Technology™, we can brew at higher pressure than traditional Keurig systems, producing a velvety crema and a more balanced, nuanced flavor profile.”

Q: What were some of the biggest development challenges?

“Integrating dual functionality was a major technical hurdle. We wanted to preserve the classic Keurig experience while introducing higher pressure brewing to bring espresso-style shots and crema-topped coffee to market. Both brews deliver a very different sensory experience, and we wanted to ensure that the K-Crema delivered on both fronts. We achieved this by better understanding the impacts of different roasts and even the height of the cup. That meant rethinking the internal mechanics, ensuring compatibility with all K-Cup® pods and maintaining ease of use.”

Q: How does K-Crema fit into Keurig’s broader brand strategy?

“Keurig has always been about making great coffee simple—and with K-Crema, we’re elevating that promise. Designed for those who seek more from their at-home coffee experience, K-Crema delivers richer flavor, café-style crema, and the flexibility to brew both high-pressure and classic styles. This brewer is tailored for consumers who value elevated coffee experiences and demand versatility, flavor, and performance. These highly engaged, brand-conscious coffee lovers are increasingly shaping category growth.”

Q: What feedback have you received from early adopters?

“The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Consumers consistently praise the flexibility and the signature crema-topped finish. Our taste tests show that pressure brewing delivers smoother, creamier, and more richly flavored brews. It’s been great to see how excited consumers get by experimenting with new roasts and types of coffee to perfect their ideal amount of crema topping. But it’s not just about taste—it’s about the sense of luxury and satisfaction that elevates every cup.”
