How 7UP Is Putting Lime in the Spotlight
The consumer insights, innovation and creativity behind a bold new chapter for the Original Uncola®

For decades, lemon came first in the lemon-lime soda aisle. Not anymore.
7UP® is entering a bold new era with its biggest brand evolution in more than 15 years. The refreshed 7UP Lime Lemon lineup features a brighter, more lime-forward taste, updated packaging and a campaign that challenges convention while staying true to the crisp refreshment fans know and love.
Turning Up the Lime
When it comes to iconic brands, change isn’t something taken lightly.
As consumer tastes evolved, 7UP identified an opportunity to create a more distinctive citrus experience while preserving the refreshment consumers expect from the brand. KDP’s State of Beverages 2026 Trend Report found that 72% of Gen Alpha and Gen Z consumers gravitate toward citrus-forward flavors, while 64% prefer bold, intense taste experiences.
The biggest change? Lime now takes the lead ahead of lemon for the first time in the brand’s history.
Consumer testing supported the decision. The new 7UP Lime Lemon formula resonated strongly with consumers ages 18-24, loyal 7UP drinkers and lapsed users, demonstrating its ability to appeal to a new generation while remaining familiar to longtime fans.
By putting lime first, 7UP is leaning into what has always made the brand unique. As the Original Uncola®, challenging convention has long been part of its identity, and 7UP Lime Lemon represents a bold yet authentic extension of that heritage.
More Than a New Recipe
The evolution extends well beyond what’s inside the can.
7UP also unveiled a new visual identity featuring a vertical logo, bolder colors, a more modern design and a new Lime Lemon designation. The update reinforces the brand’s focus on differentiation while maintaining recognizable elements consumers associate with 7UP.

Meet Lime-onymous
To introduce the transformation, 7UP chose an unconventional approach.
Ahead of the launch, consumers began encountering mysterious social content from Lime-onymous, a playful movement fueling the growing “rezestance” against Big Lemon and rallying for lime’s rightful place in the spotlight.
The reveal kicked off Flip the Sip, a multiplatform campaign spanning social media, culture and experiential activations designed to bring 7UP’s bold new point of view to life.
Lime-onymous Goes Courtside
Following the social rollout that sparked curiosity ahead of launch, 7UP brought Lime-onymous into the real world through a surprise activation at a major tennis tournament, introducing Lululime: an exclusive tennis-inspired athleisure collection created only for brand representatives of the “rezestance”.

While not available for purchase, the collection served as a bold expression of 7UP Lime Lemon’s new identity. Influencer and tennis personality Morgan Riddle was spotted wearing Lululime at the event, while seven current professional tennis players also joined the movement, showcasing the apparel across their social channels. Former professional tennis player Genie Bouchard helped take the campaign beyond the court,
encouraging consumers to join the fight against the Illemonati, the fictional lemon-first establishment standing in the way of lime’s long-overdue rise to prominence.
The activation marked the first chapter of the brand’s new Flip the Sip campaign, extending the brand’s story beyond packaging and advertising and giving consumers a new way to engage with 7UP’s lime-first identity.
“7UP has always been the Original Uncola — a brand built on challenging convention. Putting lime first is a bold expression of that ethos: a crisper taste, a more distinctive identity and a fresh challenge to the lemon-first status quo. Activating that story in a cultural moment like a major tennis tournament shows how 7UP can turn a product evolution into a playful, ownable movement consumers want to engage with”.
